Hello, my name is Teacher Bearden! This is my sixth year in education. I am currently a 1:1, but have had many roles.

Both inside and outside of school, I work with individuals with disabilities, psychiatric diagnoses, and behavioral conditions. I am incredibly passionate about what I do and feel it is exceptionally important work. I particularly enjoy working with students who have limited communication skills and/or profound behavioral concerns. I also love helping individuals with disabilities develop self-advocacy skills and increase their community involvement.

I consider myself an accomplished public speaker and community advocate. I am the county chair for a state-level advocacy group and can often be found speaking on the senate/house floor or meeting with elected officials. In addition, I enjoy a variety of volunteer work, including working at a food pantry, teaching adaptive life skills, and providing crisis de-escalation / harm reduction services.

I also love insects!!
